This 350-year-old Scots pine -- dubbed the Guardian Of The Flooded Village -- was voted European Tree Of The Year for 2020 by the Environmental Partnership Association (EPA) and the European Landowners’ Organization. The tree is located near the Czech village of Chudobin, which was flooded due to the construction of a dam. Local legend has it that a devil sits under the tree and plays the violin at night. Ce pin écossais de 350 ans — surnommé "the Guardian of the flooded village" — a été élu Arbre Européen de l’Année 2020 par l'EPA (Environmental Partnership Association) et l'European Landowners’ Organization. L’arbre est situé près du village Tchèque de Chudobin, qui a été inondé à cause de la construction d’un barrage. La légende locale dit qu’un démon se trouve sous cet arbre et joue du violon la nuit. Selon l’EPA, l’arbre « n’est pas seulement un monument important mais également un témoignage impressionnant de sa grande résistance aux changements climatiques et aux actions des hommes. » La compétition a recueilli plus de 285 000 votes.
